One of the key things Gold Star Teen Adventures is committed to is providing opportunities for our teens to connect throughout the year, not just through our summer programs. Last weekend, we were able to fly 21 teens to Maryland for a duck hunt. The weekend started off with learning about gun safety and responsible hunting practices, and then they got some experience on the range shooting clay pigeons.

The teens had an early morning Saturday when they got to put their skills to the test. The teens were paired with guides and spent several hours sitting in blinds hunting. Afterwards, the teens learned how to properly de-breast and prepare their duck meat. Later, the teens also had the opportunity to hunt pheasant and get experience working with hunting dogs, as well as doing a hunting boat tour.

Altogether, it was a very successful hunting weekend: the teens got over 50 ducks and plenty of pheasants too. All of the teens had a fantastic time this weekend reuniting with and making memories with their GSTA family. We are grateful to Patriot Point for hosting us this weekend and to all of our sponsors who continue to make opportunities like this possible!
